A bomb explosion rocked a drinking joint at a cattle market in Iware Community, a suburb of Taraba State’s Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, killing no fewer than three people.
At least 19 other people have been confirmed injured and are being treated at various health centers throughout the community and beyond.
Abdullahi Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this to Channels Television.
He noted that this is the second time such an explosion has occurred, with the first occurring a month ago at a Catholic school in Mutum Biyu, the headquarters of Gassol Local Government Area, 30 kilometers apart.
Usman went on to say that security personnel had been dispatched to the scene to begin an investigation and defuse the tension that had already been created.
Iware Community is well-known for its cattle market, which draws buyers from all over Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon every Tuesday to make low-cost purchases.
Eyewitnesses Sunday Pantuvo, who narrowly escaped with minor injuries, said the alleged bomber entered the drinking establishment with a friend as customers, ordered a drink, and then left in separate directions.
Later, the alleged bomber returned, paid for the drink, dropped a polythene bag containing the explosive, and stepped aside.
He said he was going to look for his friend a few minutes later, and the bomb exploded seconds later.
Pantuvo claimed that one of the suspected bombers was later apprehended and killed by enraged residents who cut his body into pieces in retaliation.
