Taraba Deputy Governor Engr Harun Manu said on Monday that the state government would target people looting government facilities and citizens’ private property.
Manu disclosed this when he was investigating the destruction at the Hope Afresh Foundation, an NGO of the governor’s wife Anna Darius Ishaku, at Kona road in Jalingo.
The Deputy Governor, who expressed disappointment over the damage caused by looters, said the government would prosecute them for preventing a recurrence.
“It’s a shame. The government does not own it. It is an initiative of the governor’s wife for the residents of the state.
“The foundation is a training center that has done a lot for the people in the country. I don’t know why the looters did what they did.
“As a government, we will undoubtedly hunt down looters and bring them to book as a deterrent to others.
“We have ordered security agencies to go after the looters to deter others,” he said.
Meanwhile, Taraba State Police Command said it had arrested 23 suspected thugs connected with the looting in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP David missal, announced this during a briefing to reporters in Jalingo.
